Dusala’s handwoven shawls blend pashmina on one side and zari on the other. For the pashmina to be woven, the weaver works like a pianist working simultaneously with his feet and hands. The surface techniques on the shawls show Amit Aggarwal’s rectilinear use of metallic polymer in a beautiful juxtaposition with biotic Indian embroidery and innovative hand weaving textiles. The collection consists of 15 bespoke shawls. Weaved together through time, we envision an heirloom that can be passed down the generations. “ The idea that a drape is as alive as it’s wearer called out to me. The design influences from architecture, particularly the angular lines, minaret inspired work and the natural colours are an ode to the beauty of ‘heaven on earth’. We aim to change the longstanding perception about pashmina shawls resonating only with a maturer patron” says Amit Aggarwal. “Each one of our high-altitude pashminas has taken about twenty days to create. The collaboration with Amit Aggarwal has been a meeting of creative minds, as a young brand, it has made us look at our shawls in an entirely different light.” adds Sugandha Kedia from Dusala.
